Job summary

ReNEW Schools in Indianapolis is seeking an Educational Assistant to support general and special education students under licensed teachers. You’ll assist with IEP accommodations, small group sessions, and daily classroom routines.

The role requires effective communication with staff, students, and supervisors, a High School Diploma or GED, and experience with students with special needs; some training in sensory interpretation and student restraint may be required.

Qualifications

• Clear communication with staff, students, and visitors.
• Experience supporting students with special needs.
• Ability to follow teacher directions and IEP requirements.
• Understanding of confidentiality and classroom policies.
• Willingness to undergo required safety trainings.

Responsibilities

• Assist the general education and special education teachers with IEP implementation.
• Support students in general education classes by copying notes, reading quizzes and tests, and leading small groups.
• Assist with daily care (toileting, feeding, etc.) for students as needed.
• Monitor student progress and communicate concerns to the Teacher of Record.
• Maintain documentation of accommodations and behavior plans from students’ IEPs.
• Supervise students in classrooms, during drills, assemblies, field trips, and transitions.
• Operate and use technology (iPad, computers, CANVAS, etc.)
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and progress.
