Job summary

Sylvania invites a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide learning activities and experiences designed to support students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. You will plan IEPs, adapt curricula, and prepare instructional materials.

Collaborate with parents, administrators, testing staff, and other educators to develop effective IEPs. Instruct students in all academic subjects, maintain records, and supervise aides as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and a valid Texas teaching certificate with a special education endorsement.
• Content area endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Plan curriculum and prepare IEPs and instructional materials to meet individual needs of students per state and district requirements.
• Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and others to develop individualized education programs.
• Instruct students in all academic subjects as specified by IEP.
• Create learning materials geared to each student’s ability and interests.
• Maintain an inventory of special education equipment.
