Job summary

Millcreek Township School District seeks a Special Educational Assistant in Emotional Support at Belle Valley Elementary, Erie, PA. The role supports students with daily living activities, learning plans, and behavioral supports under supervision of teachers and therapists.

Requirements include 2 years of post-secondary education or equivalent, CPR/First Aid/UKERU certification, and 20 hours yearly professional development. Competitive benefits and district resources available.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years post-secondary (48 credits), associate degree, or passing score on the Special Education Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Willingness to follow instructions of principal, teacher, school nurse, therapists, while working with children.
• Assist students with daily living activities such as toileting, feeding, dressing, and behavior management.
• Must be certified (or able to be certified) and maintain CPR, First Aid and UKERU training with ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Assist in small group or individual review with students in math, reading and other curricula areas.
• Work with other students while teacher is teaching groups and provide one-on-one support.
• Assist students in elective subjects (Art, Music, P.E.).
• Assist with daily living activities and behavior management.
• Supervise field trips and drive the van for trips as needed.
• Participate in activities requiring special guidance and supervision for safety.
• Assist with arrival/dismissal and with sensory and assistive devices as needed.
• Record data and complete logs to bill access to related services.
