Job summary

Franklin Township School District in Somerset, New Jersey is seeking a Special Education Elementary Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The position is housed at Conerly Road School and begins January 4, 2027, with 10-month contract terms.

Responsibilities include daily instruction aligned to the district curriculum in a self-contained setting for Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies; NJ certification required and strong classroom management and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• New Jersey Certification required: K-6 Elementary Certificate and Teacher of Students with Disabilities OR Teacher of the Handicapped

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide daily instruction for students in accordance with Board approved curriculum.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Appropriate New Jersey Certification required: K-6 Elementary Certificate and Teacher of Students with Disabilities OR Teacher of the Handicapped
• Must have experience with students who demonstrate emotional, and behavioral challenges, as well as some learning differences.
• Seeking the right qualified individual who has strong teaching skills, enthusiasm, and dedication to teach in a self-contained classroom for Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies.
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Compliance with the NJ FIRST Act
• Successful Criminal History Clearance
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or appropriate employment authorization

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

10 - Month Contract. Salary and benefits as determined by the Board of Education and any applicable and collective negotiations agreement.

COMPENSATION

In accordance with the provisions of the BOE/FTEA collective bargaining agreement, the salary range for this position in the 26/27 SY is Step 1 BA/BS ($68,023) - Step 18 PhD/EdD ($99,380). Compensation will be commensurate with experience and education.
