Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned or related training/work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI).
• Knowledge of subjects assigned and curriculum; ability to instruct students and manage behavior; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience: student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation.
• Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for different learning styles.
• Present subject matter according to TEA guidelines, policies, and regulations.
• Plan and use instructional strategies and materials that reflect student learning needs and TEKS coverage.
• Assess student learning styles and use results to plan activities.
• Work with special education teachers to modify curricula for IDEA/IEP guidelines; collaborate with staff to set goals and methods.
• Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers; use technology to enhance learning; prepare students for state tests.
• Establish open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers; maintain professional relationships.
• Participate in staff development to improve skills; comply with state and district policies.
• Keep informed of and comply with regulations; maintain necessary reports and attend faculty meetings.
