Job summary

Kentwood Public Schools in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a ParaProfessional - Special Education EI to support students with IEP goals under supervision. You will assist in instructional and non-instructional tasks, coordinate with teachers, and help implement behavior plans.

The role requires CPI training or willingness to obtain, data entry in tracking systems, field trip supervision, and a collaborative team approach to foster inclusive learning environments.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an institution of higher learning (equal to 60 credits) OR an associate's degree OR pass an approved formal state academic assessment.
• Experience with students with intensive dysregulation.
• Knowledge and training in proper classroom management techniques, such as de-escalation and CPI, may be required.
• Willingness to participate in professional development as identified by the principal or district.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students individually and in small groups to reinforce essential learning skills.
• Assist in administering classroom assignments and assessments.
• Differentiate instructional materials and strategies for individual needs.
• Complete CPI training and maintain certification as scheduled.
• Document student progress in data tracking systems aligned with IEP/PCS/PBSP.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus, playground, study hall, etc.).
• Support behavioral intervention plans as needed per PCS.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement in education.
• Help students with disabilities participate in activities and achieve IEP goals.
• Participate in the IEP process as needed.
• Assist with activities of daily living as required.
• Follow safety rules and work with teachers and service providers as a team.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
