Job summary

Davidson Charter Academy is a K–8 public charter school in North Carolina seeking a dedicated Exceptional Children’s Teacher to join our team. The EC Teacher will provide individualized instruction, support access to the curriculum, and work closely with teachers and families to create a safe, nurturing learning environment.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver specially designed instruction aligned with IEPs, adapt lessons, assess progress, and collaborate with families and the IEP

Qualifications

• NC teaching license in Exceptional Children
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Special Education
• Experience with students with disabilities
• Knowledge of child development, differentiated instruction, and IEP process
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a school team
• Commitment to meeting needs of a diverse student population

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver specially designed instruction aligned with IEPs.
• Adapt lessons and provide accommodations and modifications.
• Assess strengths/needs, develop measurable IEP goals, monitor progress.
• Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and the IEP team.
• Maintain accurate records and complete documentation on time.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and service providers.
• Build positive relationships with students and use effective classroom management and behavior support strategies.
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and needs.
• Maintain student confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.
