Job summary

Davidson Charter Academy is a K–8 public charter school in North Carolina seeking a dedicated Exceptional Children’s Teacher to join our team. The EC Teacher will provide individualized instruction, support access to the curriculum, and work closely with teachers and families to create a safe, nurturing learning environment.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver specially designed instruction aligned with IEPs, adapt lessons, assess progress, and collaborate with families and the IEP

Qualifications

• NC teaching license in Exceptional Children
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Special Education
• Experience with students with disabilities
• Knowledge of child development, differentiated instruction, and IEP process
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a school team
• Commitment to meeting needs of a diverse student population

Responsibilities

• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and needs.
• Maintain student confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.

The EC Teacher will provide individualized instruction, support access to the curriculum, and work closely with teachers and families to create a safe, nurturing learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver specially designed instruction aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Adapt lessons and provide accommodations and modifications to meet individual student needs.
• Assess student strengths and needs, develop measurable IEP goals, and monitor progress.
• Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and the IEP team.
• Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation within established timelines.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and service providers to support student learning.
• Build positive relationships with students and use effective classroom management and behavior support strategies.
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and needs.
• Maintain student confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Valid North Carolina teaching license in Exceptional Children appropriate to the assignment.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education.
• Teaching experience working with students with disabilities.
• Knowledge of child development, differentiated instruction, and the IEP process.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a school team.
• Commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary based on the NC Certified Teacher Salary Schedule, years of experience, and licensure status.
• Potential 3% local supplement.
• Employer 403(b) contribution match of up to 6%.
• 10 PTO days per year, with unused time rolling over until the maximum accrual is reached.
