Summit Academy School in Worcester, Massachusetts is seeking a Special Education Director to provide educational leadership, supervision, and support for high-quality, individualized special education services within a therapeutic school setting.

The Director will oversee IEP development and compliance, mentor instructional staff, and collaborate with families and sending districts to ensure effective programming and a safe, supportive learning environment.

Competenze

• Master’s degree in education, Special Education or related field.
• Valid MA Special Education or related certification.
• Minimum 1 year of administrative experience.
• Knowledge of DESE and US Department of Education policies (IDEA, No Child Left Behind).
• Familiar with MA DESE model curriculum and standards.
• Experience supervising teachers and educational staff.

Mansioni

• Participate in the enrollment process for incoming students.
• Coordinate with sending districts’ Special Education Office; draft IEPs and evaluations.
• Ensure IEP deadlines are met; supervise IEP progress reports and report cards.
• Chairs or co-chairs Team meetings with sending district personnel.
• Coordinate multi-factored evaluations as part of IEPs; interpret goals and objectives.
• Oversee curriculum to meet DESE frameworks; supervise staff performance reviews.
• Organize new school year orientation; provide staff training and professional development.
