Job summary

GPS Solutions seeks a Special Education Coordinator to provide instructional leadership, coaching, and program management for SPED services across multiple schools in the Detroit area.

The role ensures compliance with IDEA, MARSE, and district expectations while supporting staff through professional development. Regular travel to partner schools throughout Metro Detroit is required.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement.
• Minimum five years of public school special education experience.
• Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs.
• Knowledge of IDEA, MARSE, and SPED requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel across the Metro Detroit area.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional leadership, coaching, and support to SPED staff across multiple locations.
• Ensure compliance with IDEA, MARSE, Section 504, and district policies.
• Monitor IEP implementation, student services, and documentation.
• Collaborate with school leaders, families, providers, and community partners.
• Supervise and mentor SPED staff and support professional growth.
• Coordinate staffing, service delivery, and SPED programming across assigned schools.
• Maintain accurate records and complete compliance documentation timely.
• Participate in district leadership initiatives and professional development.
• Travel regularly to partner schools in the Metro Detroit area.

Position Summary

The Special Education Coordinator provides instructional leadership, coaching, compliance oversight, and program management for special education services across multiple schools. This role ensures high-quality programming aligned with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE), and district expectations while supporting special education staff through coaching, collaboration, and professional development.

The Coordinator servesasthe primaryliaison between schools, families, service providers, and district leadershipto ensure studentswith disabilities receiveequitable, compliant, andeffective educational services.

This position requiresregular travel topartner school locationsthroughout the MetroDetroit area.

Qualifications

Required:

• Valid Michigan TeachingCertificate with SpecialEducation endorsement(s)
• Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in a public school special education setting
• Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring IndividualizedEducation Programs (IEPs)
• Demonstrated knowledge ofIDEA, MARSE, andstate and federalspecial education requirements
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel throughout the Metro Detroit area
