Job summary

Portland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Coach to support students and staff across general education and special education programs. The role focuses on inclusive practices, adult support plans, and data-driven progress in line with district goals.

The candidate should have a strong SPED background, collaboration skills, and experience building staff capacity through coaching cycles and reflective practice. Equity and student success are central to the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (Masters preferred).
• Valid Michigan teaching license with Special Education endorsement.
• Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience and 2 years in SPED.
• Experience delivering academic interventions to elementary students.
• Experience implementing behavior supports for elementary students.
• Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions.
• Ability to analyze assessment data to inform instruction.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with staff, students, families to build vision for students with disabilities.
• Support IEP development and program development.
• Coach staff with MTSS model implementation.
• Develop meaningful IEPs and programming to boost student growth.
• Provide professional development on literacy and math instruction.
• Coordinate coaching models and cycles of support for buildings.
• Ensure compliance with IDEA, MARSE and district plan.
