Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Co-Teacher in Texas (Fort Worth area) to support students with significant cognitive and developmental disabilities. The role emphasizes functional curricula, daily living and vocational skills, and collaboration with a small classroom team.

Requirements include 48 college hours and experience with related disabilities; bachelor’s degree preferred, with a pathway to Special Education certification through the IDEA program.

Qualifications

• Education: at least 48 college hours required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with children with cognitive and/or pervasive developmental disabilities preferred.
• Willingness to pursue Special Education teaching certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under facilitator and teachers’ guidance.
• Assist in implementing IEPs and monitor student progress.
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom.
• Collaborate with specialists (speech therapist, social worker, therapists).
• Maintain student records and assist with behavior and social skills development.
• Daily living assistance may include feeding, lifting, or toileting in Life Skills Unit.
• Occasional school bus rides with students before or after school.
