Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking Special Education Co-Teachers to learn instructional strategies and develop teaching skills to deliver effective instruction to IDEA students. This role is ideal for gaining experience in Special Education and advancing in an education career.

Qualifications

• Education: At least 48 college hours; bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• Experience: Classroom setting or work with children.
• Willingness to pursue Special Education teaching certification (strongly preferred) and enrollment in IDEA certification program (ISECP).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under supervision.
• Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans and monitor progress.
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom.
• Collaborate with other professionals (speech therapist, social worker, occupational/physical therapists).
• Maintain student records with classroom teachers.
• Support students with emotional or behavior concerns and help develop social skills.
• Daily living assistance may include feeding, lifting and/or toileting in Life Skills Unit.
