Job summary

The role involves supporting multi-handicapped and deaf-blind students, managing classroom activities, and assisting with adaptive equipment under the direction of the SPED team. A high school diploma and college credits or equivalent are required.

Qualifications

• Must have High School diploma or equivalent and 48 college units or an Associate Degree or higher.
• Alternative: pass local assessment in assisting instruction (Parapro, WorkKeys, OGET).
• Strong ability to work with SPED students and support teachers.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the certified SPED teacher.
• Assist in delivering services to multi handicapped and deaf-blind children.
• Assist students with activities assigned by the SPED teacher.
• Use appropriate management techniques in classroom.
• Complete non-instructional duties like maintenance, supervision, clerical tasks.
• Supervise students in classrooms and common areas.
• Assist with adaptive equipment and lifts.
• Support special education students with emotional needs.
• Perform duties as directed by the Superintendent or designee.
