Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Experience with special needs population desirable.
• Certified Paraprofessional or willingness to become within timelines.
• CPR, First Aid, AED training and Safe Crisis Management or similar restraint training.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and assist with personal care.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Works with the teacher as a team member in the educational and social development of students.
• Assists the teacher in developing and maintaining a positive environment.
• Performs instructional activities and monitors the results under the teacher's direction.
• Assists the teacher in managing student behavior per policies.
• Provides input on student progress, behavioral changes, and needs as appropriate.
• Assists in meeting personal care needs and lifts students as directed.
• Performs clerical and housekeeping duties as required.
• Follows CAIU policies and confidentiality (FERPA).
• Attends trainings/meetings and supports team initiatives.
