Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 48 semester hours completed from an accredited college or passing ACT WorkKeys.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Ability to work in a demanding, stressful environment.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication with students, parents and others.
• Effective interpersonal, collaborative skills with diverse groups.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Physical strength and mobility to perform job responsibilities.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, manage data and produce reports.

Responsibilities

• Reinforces concepts from lessons and provides additional assignments as directed.
• Assist students with books, computers and classroom materials.
• Maintain records related to attendance, grades, test scores or behavior as assigned.
• Assist with toileting needs and physical transfers as required.
• Support with behavior management and crisis intervention when needed.
• Operate mobility equipment and assist during field trips.
• Assist bus drivers and support staff in maintaining student discipline.
• Attend IEP meetings if requested and keep confidentiality.
