Job summary

The Jefferson-Lewis-Hamilton-HerKimer-Oneida BOCES (Jefferson-Lewis BOCES) invites applicants for multiple openings in its Program for Exceptional Students. The initial assignment may be in Jefferson or Lewis County and starts as soon as possible.

Positions include assisting teachers, supervising students, and supporting health-related activities, with a focus on teamwork and supportive student care. Requirements include a high school diploma, NYSED fingerprinting clearance, and solid

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with classroom duties—correcting papers, maintaining files, preparing reports.
• Assist in health-related activities and physical care tasks as appropriate.
• Supervise students in main classrooms, during lunch and bus duties.
• Help students with behavioral management.
• Assist with classroom setup, cleanup and organization.
• Carry out other duties as directed by the classroom teacher.

Multiple Openings in Program for Exceptional Students

LOCATION: Jefferson-Lewis BOCES with initial assignment in a Component District or Center-based classroom in Jefferson or Lewis County

STARTING DATE: As soon as possible

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $19.50 Commensurate with experience in keeping with the current negotiated agreement with the CSEA. Health insurance which includes vision & prescription coverage, NYS Retirement membership, tax deferred annuities, employee assistance program, and generous sick and personal day policies

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
• Assist teacher with classroom duties-correcting of papers, maintaining
files, preparing reports
• Assists in physical care tasks and health-related activities as appropriate
• Supervises students – accompanying to mainstream classroom settings,
lunch, bus duties
• Assists students with behavioral management needs
• Assists with classroom set-up, clean-up, and organization
• Other duties as directed by classroom teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must possess:
• High School Diploma or GED/TASC
• Fingerprinting clearance through NYSED
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
