Job summary

Fairfax County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Instructional Assistant to support teachers and students in general and special education settings. You will perform curricular, instructional, clerical, and support tasks, assist with daily classroom management, and help implement instructional plans under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and experience with children; additional credentials or coursework related to education are valued.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED.
• One year of experience with children.
• Advanced degrees may be considered for some experience.
• For Title I: associate degree or 48 college credits or approved assessment.

Responsibilities

• Performs curricular, instructional, clerical, and support tasks to assist teachers and other staff.
• Works with teacher to provide instructional activities for general or special education.
• Performs remedial instruction or tasks to reinforce learning.
• Supports individual students needing special attention.
• Assists with development of individualized programs.
• Prepares instructional materials and reports.
• Reads to students and supports reading strategies.
• Assists with monitoring student behavior and maintaining order.
• May act as substitute teacher as needed.
