Job summary

Carlstadt School District is seeking a part-time Instructional Assistant to support certified staff and assist students in the classroom. You will help reinforce instructional subjects, work with students in small groups, and support IEP objectives under supervision at Carlstadt Public School.

The role emphasizes assisting with lesson preparations, assessments, behavior management, field trips, and safe, inclusive classroom practices. Prior experience with special needs is desirable.

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out instructions as directed in classroom settings.
• Proficient with Google Workspace applications for classroom tasks.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of students and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Support students with special needs and IEP objectives.
• Develop cooperative relationships with students and staff.
• Report work progress to supervisor both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrate effective writing and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce instructional subjects.
• Work with students individually and in small groups.
• Assist in administration of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Support materials prep and strategies for student needs.
• Help with record-keeping of student learning and performance.
• Assist with classroom behavior management to maintain order and safety.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Prepare and distribute educational materials as needed.
• Assist students with special needs to maximize inclusion and achievement, including IEP objectives.
• Participate in IEP processes as needed.
• Support daily living activities for students with disabilities when required.
• Follow safety rules and procedures for all students.
