Job summary

Stafford Municipal School District at Stafford Middle School seeks a Clerical/Paraprofessional Support/Special Education Assistant to assist the classroom teacher and provide direct instruction in a positive teaching-learning environment.

The role includes supporting instruction, preparing materials, working with individuals and groups, data collection, testing, and maintaining records while promoting positive communication within the school and community.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 48 semester hours of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university OR meets NCLB requirements for Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals.

Responsibilities

• Cooperatively perform tasks under the supervision of assigned certified professional employees in a variety of instructional settings.
• Provide assistance to teachers and related service personnel in preparing and implementing instructional curriculum, and daily classroom routines.
• Work with individual students and with groups as directed.
• Anticipate the needs of the teacher(s) and students to maximize instructional time on task.
• Assist in testing routines including data collection and criterion-referenced assessments.
• Operate, store, and use educational media, computers and equipment as directed.
• Engage in activities which promote positive communication and understanding school and community.
• Participate in in-service training workshops as required by the District, principal or designee.
• Appropriately manage students physically, verbally, and non-verbally who may be out of control, working collaboratively with the instructional team.
• Keep data and compile records as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
