Job summary

Central DeWitt Community School District seeks a Special Education Associate for Ekstrand Elementary School. Morning hours in Preschool and afternoon in K-2, assisting certified staff to reach instructional goals and support inclusion of students with special needs.

The role involves helping with reading, language arts, math, and technology, supervising non-instructional duties, and participating in the IEP process as needed. Training and supportive environment provided.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with students with special needs is desirable.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in reading, language arts, mathematics and computer instruction.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist staff with administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Support preparation and use of instructional materials tailored to student needs.
• Maintain records documenting student learning and progress.
• Assist with behavior management to maintain a safe and orderly classroom.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study halls).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement in education.
• Support students with special needs to maximize inclusion and IE P objectives.
