Job summary

Kingsley-Pierson Community School District is seeking a Special Education Aide in Kingsley, Iowa to support students with disabilities by assisting the classroom teacher, delivering instruction, managing behavior, and meeting individual educational needs.

You will provide direct support to students or small groups, assist with daily living activities, implement behavior plans, monitor progress, and help maintain a safe, inclusive classroom.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities, preferred.
• Patience, flexibility, and a strong desire to help students succeed.
• Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and maintain professionalism.
• Must pass required background checks and training (e.g., CPR, first aid, crisis intervention, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of a certified special education teacher to support instruction and IEP goals.
• Provide direct support to individual students or small groups, including academic, behavioral, and functional assistance.
• Assist students with daily living activities, personal care, or mobility as needed.
• Implement behavior intervention plans and support positive behavior strategies.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
• Help maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
• Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, playgrounds, and during arrival/dismissal.
• Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and data collection.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and personal information.
• Participate in training and professional development as required.
