Job summary

Franklin Public Schools in Franklin, MA is seeking a Building-Based Substitute Special Education Teacher for the K-5 Complex. The role involves rotating through classrooms, following lesson plans, and maintaining safety and learning activities throughout the school day.

As a substitute, you will support the regular teacher’s plan, participate in staff meetings, and cover duties such as bus and recess. The position includes town benefits, including Health Insurance.

Qualifications

• Experience working with middle or high school-age youth preferred.
• Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).

Responsibilities

• Rotate into various teaching positions daily and work as part of the school community.
• Implement teacher lesson plans and administrator directives with fidelity.
• Communicate with classroom teachers and principal regarding expectations for student work, behavior, and lesson execution.
• Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students.
• Ensure continuous classroom instruction when the regular teacher is absent.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development activities.
• Perform supervisory duties (lunch, bus, or recess).
• Assist in developing curricular materials as assigned.
