This position is essential in helping students develop social skills, manage their behaviors, and achieve academic success.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing individualized behavior intervention plans for students.
• Provide direct support to students in the classroom and during transitions to ensure appropriate behavior.
• Monitor student progress and document behavioral incidents, providing feedback to teachers and support staff.
• Collaborate with teachers and other paraeducators to develop strategies that promote positive behavior and engagement.
• Facilitate small group activities that encourage social skills development and teamwork.
• Assist in the supervision of students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom settings.
• Participate in training and professional development sessions to enhance skills in behavior management and intervention techniques.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students, addressing any behavioral issues promptly and effectively.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent. Requires two years of college, an AA degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment (Praxis Exam).
• Experience working with children or adolescents, particularly those with behavioral challenges, is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents.
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with school district policies and procedures.
