Job summary

China Spring Independent School District seeks a Behavior Paraprofessional to assist teachers with behavioral and instructional support. You will help prepare and manage classrooms, diffuse disruptive behavior, and transition students back to activities under supervision.

The role involves implementing behavior intervention plans, collecting progress data, and supporting in reading, writing, and mathematics instruction. Strong communication and collaboration with staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 48 college hours or an Educational Aide certificate.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to respond to the needs of children.
• Ability to assist in behavior management and intervention.
• Ability to assist in reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.
• Ability to work well with children.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Some experience working with children who exhibit behavior problems.

Responsibilities

• Model behavioral techniques including positive behavioral intervention and reinforcement strategies.
• Support classroom teacher and related services staff in managing student behavioral needs.
• Collect data on student performance as related to IEP goals, objectives, and behavior intervention plans.
• Participate in student planning meetings to coordinate behavioral therapy goals within the educational program.
• Assist in training staff on the implementation of student behavior intervention plans.
• Assist teacher in preparing and presenting behavioral skill lessons.
• Implement student behavior intervention plans and emergency intervention plans as needed.
• Intervene in emergency situations involving aggressive or uncontrolled behavior of identified students.
• Supervise behavior students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom; including lunchroom, bus, and job site.
• Keep administrator informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Attend training in non-violent intervention techniques including Crisis Prevention and Intervention.
• Follow behavior plans as directed by teacher and ARD committee.
• Attend ongoing training and professional development.
• Participate in team meetings and faculty events.
• Comply with district policies and laws; adhere to safety policies.
• Maintain confidentiality in district business.
• Must be able to walk and interact with students and staff at the work site.
• Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance.
