Job summary

Greeley‑Evans School District 6 seeks a Special Education Assistant (Student Specific) for Meeker Elementary School. This non-exempt role offers an hourly wage of $20.51 plus benefits and 182 days of work for the 2026‑2027 school year.

Required: AA degree or 48 semester hours or WorkKeys scores. Preferences include CPI and CPR/First Aid training. Reports to the School Principal and supports students with significant needs in a classroom setting.

Job description

Special Education Assistant (Student Specific) – Meeker Elementary School

Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary: $20.51 per hour plus benefits (Range 1‑9). Additional salary credit may be given for internal transfers and recent Greeley‑Evans School District 6 rehires, up to $3.25 per hour plus benefits.

Contract Length / Days: (2026‑2027 / 182 days)

Education & Experience

Required: AA degree or 48 semester hours or passing scores on WorkKeys exam.

Job Description
Summary / Objective

Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills contributing to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Report to the building principal and department director where assigned.

Essential Job Functions
  • Support the academic programming and progress of individual students and/or small groups of students with identified significant needs.
  • Provide student‑specific personal care and support.
  • Assist with daily classroom activities, data collection, sanitizing equipment and materials, and provide support to staff.
  • Maintain being seated for long periods, manage distractions, and use visual, auditory, and ambulatory acuity.
  • Move quickly from one position to another; possess upper body strength to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Additional Qualifications

Applicant must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to perform the position’s functions, including student‑specific personal care support. Prior experience in school settings or with children with special needs is required. Strong verbal communication, quick responsiveness, teamwork, positive attitude, upper body strength for lifting, and paraprofessional experience are preferred. Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.
