Job summary

Southeast Polk Community School District is seeking a Teacher Associate for EmpowerU at our Alternative Programs Building. The role supports Pre-K through 12th grade students under licensed supervision, with the goal of fostering social, emotional, and intellectual growth.

Hours are 7:15am-3:00pm (9:15am-3:00pm on Wednesdays). Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and meet background checks and training requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to work with the needs of all Pre-K through 12th Grade students and beyond.
• Completion of physical, criminal background and child abuse registry checks, and pre-work screening.
• Experience working in an educational setting.
• Training requirements: medication administration, First Aid/CPR certification, CPI training.
• Ability to work with diverse needs.
• Experience with disabled population is valued.
• Supervisory experience with school age children.
• 48 post-secondary credits or Para educator certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with small groups and individual student instruction and supervision.
• Help maintain a safe, orderly learning environment across settings.
• Transport students to internship sites as needed.
• Assist with classroom setup and material preparation.
• Support students with physical or behavioral needs.
• Complete clerical tasks as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Communicate effectively with staff and follow IEP directives.
• Attend required staff meetings and complete mandatory trainings.
