Job summary

Seattle Public Schools Special Education Assistant (ISE-203) supports students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms, implementing IEP objectives and assisting instruction. The role adapts activities to include all students and monitors progress with teachers.

The position involves behavior monitoring, coordinating with staff and parents, and attending IEP meetings to ensure student progress and safety. CPR/First Aid and a paraeducator credential are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and required paraeducator credentials.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Criminal background clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising, caring for and instructing special needs students.
• Implement IEP objectives and adapt activities under teacher direction.
• Monitor student behavior and address personal care needs as needed.
• Attend meetings and communicate with teachers and parents.
• Administer first aid and CPR when required.
