Onslow County Schools seeks an Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant at Woodland Elementary to support teachers and therapists in daily activities with students who have disabilities. Open until filled; 10-month term; Salary Grade 56; Non-Exempt; reports to Principal/Supervisor and Classroom Teachers.

Requires an associate degree with content emphasis; ETTP course within first year; duties include assisting with instruction, behavior recording, and ensuring student safety.

Qualifications

• Two year Associate's Degree in Education preferred.
• Accredited Associate's Degree with emphasis in math, reading, writing.
• ETTP course completion within first school year.

Responsabilités

• Follow all rules, policies, and regulations of the school and district.
• Assist in classroom management and maintaining discipline.
• Assist students on individual academic assignments.
• Assist children with gross motor activities (grasping, crawling, walking, etc.)
• Assist children with fine motor activities (toys, coloring, etc.)
• Assist with dressing, eating, grooming, toileting and hygiene needs.
• Assemble, adjust, and maintain instructional equipment.
• Assist therapists and other specialists.
• Record student behavior, progress and related data.
• Clerical duties: attendance, incident reports, grading, copies, displays.
• Implement educational programs; score tests.
• Monitor safety and well-being of students.
• Support digital age learning in the classroom.
• Encourage academic growth and ethical behavior.
• Supervise students during drills, assemblies, field trips, lunch and recess.
