Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Educational Aide to support students in special education settings. You will assist with assignments, adapt materials, and reinforce classroom rules while promoting a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities include behavior monitoring, de-escalation when needed, and providing mobility and hygiene support. Aide certification or higher is preferred, with US work authorization and a background check required.

Qualifications

• High school degree or higher required.
• Experience in special education.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Interest in reading great books.
• US work authorization required.
• Successful criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance required.
• Ability to perform standing, sitting, repetitive hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching.
• Ability to move or position equipment up to approximately 15 pounds.
• Educational Aide certification I, II, or III preferred.
• Associate's degree or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support students in small groups or 1:1 settings.
• Assist students with assignments, homework, and projects.
• Adapt materials and provide modifications to help students learn.
• Help students understand and follow classroom rules.
• Monitor student behavior to ensure safety and appropriate interactions.
• Implement behavior management strategies.
• Support students in developing social skills, appropriate interactions, and positive behaviors.
• Assist with de-escalating student behaviors and request support as needed.
• Reinforce SDI concepts already in effect.
• Help students with transitions and activities.
• Support personal hygiene needs including toileting, feeding, and dressing.
• Support mobility and adaptive equipment.
• Provide general clerical support for the ESS Team.
• Attend meetings and training sessions.
• Help maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Provide a supportive and positive learning environment.
