Job summary

Pasadena Independent School District is seeking a Sped Aide BSS to provide support to identified students with disabilities throughout the school day. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate, and appropriate testing credentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate is required.
• PAC Test or 48 College Hours required.
• Bilingual testing may be applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with routine classroom management.
• Help prepare instructional materials for lessons.
• Maintain classroom environment and supplies.
• Assist students with homework and tests.
• Modify assignments, tests, and instructional items.
• Maintain student records and files.
• Communicate student needs to faculty and staff.
• Support a safe school environment for students and staff.
• Implement student behavior management plans.
• Assist with loading/unloading school buses as needed.
• Participate in physical education activities with students.
• Assist with personal hygiene needs of students.
• Help with feeding students who require assistance.
• Lift/move/position students as required.
• Be aware of medical concerns affecting students.
• Escort students to locations around the building.
• Monitor students during activities throughout the day.
• Work with any student per IEP determinations.
• File documents in students' folders.
• Orient students to class schedules each semester.
• Obtain textbooks for different programs as needed.
• Perform other duties as directed by teachers/principal.
