Job summary

Rapides Parish School District is seeking a Child Specific Aide at Mabel Brasher Montessori Elementary (PK-5) in Alexandria, LA. The role supports a specific student with needs during instructional time, including mobility and basic medical tasks, under supervision of the Special Education Department.

Starting immediately for a nine-month term with a paraprofessional salary schedule. Must meet education requirements and pass Para-Pro or equivalent criteria; report to the Principal/Director of

Qualifications

Possess a high school diploma or equivalent diploma.
Meet one of the following eligibility requirements: Associate degree; At least 48 college credit hours; OR Pass the Para-Pro Assessment.

Responsibilities

Ability to lift to make wheelchair transfers.
Assist with bathroom needs (same-sex assignment may be considered for older students).
Perform simple medical tasks such as catheterization and trachea cleaning.
Assist student during instruction as needed (including A.P.E. activities when requested).
Assist with feeding needs.
Attend to the student’s needs from arrival to departure, including bus unloading and loading.
The Child Specific Aide may assist other special needs children as long as the assigned student’s needs are met.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Associate degree / 48 college credit hours

Para-Pro Assessment passing
