Job summary

Grain Valley R-5 School District seeks a paraprofessional aide to support special education students. Under teacher guidance, you will assist with academic tasks and reinforce material introduced by teachers, while helping with daily living activities and safety during school routines.

You will report student performance changes to the special education case manager and familiarize yourself with individual IEPs to provide appropriate support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level credentials not required; strong preference for prior work with children.
• 60 college hours or completion of the Paraprofessional exam.
• Experience supporting students in academic or personal tasks is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist special education students with academic tasks under teacher guidance.
• Reinforce material introduced by teachers to support learning.
• Help students with physical tasks (bus routines, dressing, lunch, transfers).
• Provide physical assistance as needed (transfers, positioning) and monitor safety.
• Report student performance and changes to the special education case manager.
