Job summary

ReNEW Schools in Indiana is seeking a Special Education Aide to support instructional staff and students under the supervision of the Building Principal. The position offers medical, dental, and vision coverage with sick and personal days; starting date is immediate.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree or equivalent paraprofessional experience, plus basic computer skills and a willingness to assist in a variety of classroom activities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 2 years college credit or 1000 hours paraprofessional experience or ParaPro Test.
• Computer skills including internet searches and email.
• Ability to assist in instructional activities and support classroom tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assists students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with teachers, staff and students.
• Discusses instructional areas with classroom teacher to coordinate efforts.
• Keeps students focused on tasks and reports concerns to the teacher of record.
• Works with other teachers in utilizing instructional materials to meet student needs.
• Monitors students during non-academic activities (lunch, P.E., art).
• Assists students with personal hygiene tasks as needed.
• Assists in gathering and organizing instructional materials.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal.
