Job summary

Orangeburg County Schools in North Middle High seeks a 2026-2027 Special Education Teacher Assistant/Shadow to support the classroom teacher and students. The role involves supervision during arrivals and departures and assistance with daily tasks.

Primary duties include helping with academic tasks, lunchtime and recess, behavior support, and light clerical work as directed. A high school diploma is required; prior student experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; experience with students preferred.
• Previous work with students is a plus.
• Ability to follow teacher directions and school policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students while they are arriving and departing from school.
• Assists students in academic tasks as outlined by the classroom teacher.
• Assists students during inside or outside recess.
• Assists students during lunchtime.
• Assists with behavior issues.
• Assists students to and from the restroom.
• Contacts parents through phone calls, emails and home visits as accompanied and directed by the teacher.
• Sanitizes/cleans classroom and equipment using approved materials.
• Assists teacher with bulletin-boards, running errands, making copies, filing and other clerical duties requested by her/him.
• Attends meetings upon request of the teacher or administration.
• Assists in other capacities as directed by the administrator.
