Job summary

Orangeburg County Schools seeks a friendly and dedicated Teacher Assistant to shadow at Whittaker Elementary School. You will support classroom teachers, help students with assignments, supervise during arrivals, lunches, and recess, and assist with clerical tasks.

The position requires a high school diploma; prior experience with students is preferred. You will contribute to a positive learning environment, communicate with families as directed, and participate in meetings as requested by staff.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to supervise students and support classroom activities.
• Experience working with students is preferred.
• Ability to follow teacher instructions and assist with clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students during arrivals and departures.
• Assists students with academic tasks as directed by teacher.
• Assists during inside/outside recess and lunchtime.
• Assists with behavior issues and student transitions.
• Supports communication with parents as directed.
• Assists with sanitizing/cleaning classroom and equipment.
• Performs clerical duties and helps with bulletin boards.
• Attends meetings as requested by teacher or administration.
• Supports administrator-directed tasks.
