Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Requires following verbal and written instructions.
• Requires effective communication with students and staff.
• Familiarity with general office equipment and basic tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain neat and orderly classroom environment.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Assist teacher with administrative records and reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities as needed.
• Help manage student behavior and intervene when necessary.
• Adapt to each student’s medical, physical, and emotional needs.
• Work with students or small groups to develop motor skills and activities.
• Supervise students during the day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties.
• Keep teacher informed of student needs and problems.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
• Maintain district records and learn records retention schedules.
