Job summary

Wimberley Independent Sch Dist Jacobs Well Elementary in Wimberley, Texas is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. The position is full-time with a starting date immediately and pays $16.31 to $20.40 per hour.

Under the supervision of a certified teacher and principal, you will help prepare instructional materials, maintain an orderly classroom, assist with equipment, and support student learning and behavior throughout the school

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred Texas educational aide certificate (Candidate responsible for obtaining).
• Bilingual preferred.
• Some experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning.
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
• Help manage behavior of students and respond to crisis situations as needed.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
