Job summary

Sarasota is seeking an instructional assistant to support students with special needs under the direction of a certified staff member. Responsibilities include implementing academic and behavioral interventions, assisting with personal care, and maintaining a safe learning environment.

Training in autism and CPI is required during probation, and completion of the Para Pro Assessment or equivalent education is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of working with students with special needs.
• Ability to follow directions and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision of students and school activities.
• Participate in required workshops and trainings.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene tasks as needed.
• Perform clerical duties and data collection as assigned.
• Help maintain a safe learning environment and assist with behavioral management.
• Assist with instructional materials and record-keeping.
• Monitor student progress and communicate with staff and families.
