Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have 60 college credits earned, or an associate’s or higher degree, or passing score on an MDE approved ETS Paraprofessional assessment.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.
• Ability to safely restrain students per approved protocols.
• Ability to supervise field trips and transport students.
• Ability to lift and transfer scholars.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a diverse environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and evaluating strategies for behavioral management and academic goals.
• Join building activities, meetings, IEPs, and field trips as directed by the teacher.
• Present lessons and assist with instruction and materials preparation.
• Assist with transportation loading/unloading and patient supervision.
• Inform the teacher of any needs or concerns regarding scholars.
• Follow through with service providers’ recommendations.
• Assist with community-based instructional programs and daily living tasks.
• Perform record keeping and attendance, and communicate with parents and staff.
• Be a positive role model and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Support after-school supervision and general daily activities.
