Job summary

Horry County Schools’ Whittemore Park Middle is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities under the direction of the classroom teacher. You will assist with instructional activities, monitoring student progress, and addressing behavioral and personal needs in line with IEPs.

The role follows an 185-day schedule and requires collaboration with staff, families, and service providers.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional: 60 college credits or passing Work Keys/ParaPro.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Proficiency with basic arithmetic and data interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of IEPs under teacher direction.
• Support individual or small group instruction and reinforce lessons.
• Attend to needs of students including personal hygiene and safety.
• Escort and supervise students during arrival, transitions, and departure.
• Collect and report student performance data to teachers.
• Maintain classroom records and materials and assist with materials distribution.
