Job summary

Washington Elementary School District is seeking a Special Education Assistant Paraprofessional in Phoenix, AZ. Under supervision, you will aid teachers, prepare materials, and support special education students individually or in small groups.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, 60 college credits or an equivalent paraprofessional qualification, CPR within 30 days, and AZ IVP fingerprint clearance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) prior to being hired.
• 60 College Credit Hours, Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or successfully passed a Arizona State approved paraprofessional test; offered by WESD at no cost and must pass prior to being hired.
• Must receive CPR certification within thirty days of hire date.
• Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (AZ IVP FPCC).

Responsibilities

• Assists with special education students individually or in groups on projects and activities.
• Monitors student behavior and enforces school/classroom standards and policies.
• Assists with feeding, toileting/diapering, physical activities, instructions, and behavior management.
• Monitors playground and cafeteria safety and escorts students to/ from classes and buses.
• Prepares classrooms for activities and materials; cleans up after activities.
• Communicates with parents regarding progress and concerns.
• Copies and prepares educational materials; assists with lesson plans.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
