Job summary

HORRY COUNTY SCHOOLS in Myrtle Beach is seeking a Special Education Aide to assist teachers in the daily instruction and care of students with disabilities. As a paraprofessional, you will work under the teacher's direction to monitor instructional, personal, and behavioral needs.

Responsibilities include implementing IEPs, supporting small-group instruction, assisting with personal care and equipment, supervising transitions, and maintaining student data and records.

Qualifications

• Must meet NCLB requirements for Paraprofessional (PARAPRO test, WorkKeys, and higher education credits).
• Associates degree or 60 college credit hours required for eligibility.
• Strong reading, writing, communication, and basic math skills needed for daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing IEPs under direction of teachers.
• Support individual or small group instruction and guid ed practice.
• Assist with personal care, safety, and use of assistive technology as needed.
• Escort students during arrivals, transitions, and meals.
• Collect and report student performance data to teachers.
• Maintain classroom records and instructional materials.
• Assist with behavior management and participation in staff development.
