Job summary

Community Unit School District 200 seeks a Special Education Teaching Assistant to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a classroom teacher and building principal. The role emphasizes instructional and non-instructional assistance to enhance learning outcomes.

Licensure as required by Illinois is essential. The position includes a 6.5-hour workday, 178 days per year, with pay scales depending on classroom assignment and completion of required trainings such as an RBT

Qualifications

• Current State of Illinois Paraprofessional (Aide) Approval or equivalent licensure.
• Provide/maintain appropriate educator licenses per Illinois requirements.
• Ability to work effectively with children and manage classroom interactions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with providing a balanced program of instruction for students with disabilities.
• Reinforce information and instructions after lessons.
• Work with students individually or in small groups.
• Implement behavior modification plans when necessary.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students.
• Maintain positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
• Observe and record student progress.
• Assist during activities including recess, lunch, bus transitions.
