Job summary

Irving ISD is seeking a Special Education (PASS) Aide to assist a special education teacher with the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities. The role requires following instructional programs, supporting personal care, and ensuring safety under supervision.

Qualifications include Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate or High School Diploma/GED, plus strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate or equivalent required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work well with children with disabilities; good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality.
• Keep accurate records of students with disabilities and furnish to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus duty, playground, and community.
• Assist teacher in maintaining, copying, transferring confidential folders as required.
• Assist special needs students with individual tasks including transferring to/from wheelchairs, lifting, positioning, feeding, bathroom needs, personal hygiene.
• Assist in managing the behavior of students and crisis intervention.
• Adapt to each student’s medical, physical, communicative, emotional, and safety needs via in-service and/or teacher direction.
• Prepare materials for individual students or small groups to develop skills under teacher direction.
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
• Uphold school rules, regulations, and policies.
• Participate in staff development and meetings as assigned.
