Job summary

The Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans George Sanchez North Campus – Houston, Texas seeks a Teacher Aide for the 2026-2027 pool to support students with disabilities. The aide assists with IEP goals, reinforces academic and social skills, and helps maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment on the South Campus.

The role requires patience and teamwork, and involves supervising students across classrooms and common areas, plus providing personal care assistance as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
• Knowledge of IEP processes is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to individual students and small groups.
• Reinforce academic, behavioral, communication, social, and life skills.
• Assist with the implementation of IEP goals, accommodations, modifications, and behavior intervention plans.
• Monitor and supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and other school settings.
• Promote positive behavior and assist with classroom management strategies.
• Collect and maintain student academic and behavioral data as directed.
• Prepare instructional materials and perform basic clerical duties, including copying, laminating, filing, and recordkeeping.
• Assist students with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, hygiene, dressing, and mobility support as needed.
• Alert appropriate staff to student health, safety, or behavioral concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and records.
• Attend required meetings, training, and professional development activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
