Job summary

The Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA) is seeking a Special Education Teacher Aide at the George Sanchez South Campus in Houston, TX. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of special education practices, accommodations, and behavior support strategies preferred.
• Ability to implement instructional and behavior management plans consistently.
• Ability to supervise students and maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
• Ability to collect and maintain accurate records and student data.
• Ability to provide personal care assistance and support student physical needs as required.
• Strong organizational, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to individual students and small groups.
• Reinforce academic, behavioral, communication, social, and life skills.
• Assist with implementing IEP goals, accommodations, modifications, and behavior plans.
• Monitor and supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and other school settings.
• Promote positive behavior and effective classroom management.
• Collect and maintain student academic and behavioral data.
• Prepare instructional materials and basic clerical tasks.
• Assist students with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, hygiene, dressing, and mobility support as needed.
• Alert appropriate staff to student health, safety, or behavioral concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and records.
• Attend required meetings and professional development activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
