Job summary

Midland Independent School District is seeking a Teacher Assistant, Resource/Inclusion at DeZavala Elementary in Midland, Texas. The role provides instructional support to students under the supervision of a certified teacher and assists with IEP implementation.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED with 30 college hours or TEA Educational Aide Certificate. Some experience in special education is preferred. This is a full-time position with standard district duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and/or 30 semester hours.
• Educational Aide Certificate from the State of Texas.
• Some experience working with special education children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow the directions of the supervisor.
• Preparing materials and displays as directed; assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Demonstrating acceptable written and verbal skills.
• Working in a cooperative manner with both teacher and students.
• Assisting the teacher in maintaining student discipline.
• Assisting the teacher in assuming responsibility for the care and safety of students.
• Assisting the teacher in assuming responsibility for the care of equipment and teaching materials.
• Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher.
• Inform the teacher of any special needs or problems of individual students.
