Job summary

La Vernia ISD Intermediate in La Vernia, Texas seeks an Educational Aide-ALE for a 4-day instructional week in a self-contained special education classroom. Immediate start; work under supervision of a certified teacher and principal.

Responsibilities include assisting with instructional materials, managing student behavior, and supervising students across the school day. Requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent and a Texas educational aide certificate; 1 year experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or two years of college or ESSA assessment completed.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.
• 1 year of experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Help teachers prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Assist in keeping administrative records and reports.
• Provide orientation to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers, lifting, positioning, and personal care.
• Help manage student behavior and intervene in crises as needed.
• Adapt methods to each student’s needs and supervise throughout the day.
• Communicate special needs to the teacher and maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development and attend meetings as assigned.
