Job summary

Omaha Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional for the Special Education Alternative Curriculum Program (ACP) at Oak Valley Elementary in Omaha, NE. The position runs August through May when students are in session and starts August 2026.

Responsibilities include assisting with educational activities, supporting students, transporting them as needed, maintaining a safe and clean classroom, and collecting data under supervision of licensed staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Willingness to participate in professional development and in-service trainings.

Responsibilities

• Assist or directly carry out educational activities designed by teacher and support personnel.
• Assist students with toileting needs and diaper changing.
• Carry out self-care programs including feeding, brushing teeth and grooming.
• Assist with unloading and loading students on the van/bus.
• Maintain a cheerful and attractive classroom environment.
• Maintain cleanliness standards in classroom and restrooms.
• Collect and record data.
• Create teaching materials related to the curriculum.
• Carry out structured behavior programs as directed by professional staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Interact with students as directed by professional staff.
• Work effectively with other paraprofessionals and staff.
• Carry out programs in school and non-school settings.
